Caters to small companies with great features for business owners

Cheaper options are available for this caliber of hosting

InMotion is just shy of being one of the top dogs of web hosting. They fly under the radar a lot, but could be the best host for you.

Unique features, excellent money-back guarantee, and well-priced plans make it a worthy choice for business owners who want to skip the cheapest hosts. InMotion sits comfortably in the middle of being useful to beginners and advanced users.

If you’re completely tech averse, it may not be the best. If you are using a “starter” host and want to take it up a notch, give this company a close look.

All of the features are geared towards do-it-yourself types and business owners. The starter plan is even labeled “Business Hosting” to let visitors know who they can help.

Building a professional, mobile-ready site is a lot easier with InMotion’s new “BoldGrid” site builder.

The unique element here is that the tool is built on the WordPress platform. Users get the power and function of the best content management system (CMS) with a unique site builder that doesn’t require any coding.

You combine the power of the infinite customization through WP, but the editing power and templates of a drag-and-drop builder. The templates are complete websites that are easily changed.

Not only can you have a website that’s nice looking, but it can be as comprehensive as you want. It’s something I’ve not seen with other hosts and the first editor of it’s kind. Pretty neat.

Check out a YouTube video that explains everything about BoldGrid here.

All the typical CMS options are available (Joomla, Drupal), and you could always have a custom design. InMotion does offer design services.

If you’re a brick-and-mortar shop that wants to start selling online, there are several ecommerce integration options including hosting for Prestashop, Magento, Moodle and Opencart.

The plans available are fairly standard and won’t shock you, but the resources are there for just about any sized website with any amount of traffic.

You won’t find any Windows servers here. InMotion is entirely Linux based.

Shared, VPS, dedicated and WordPress plans are available at the budget pricing levels. Right now, they don’t offer cloud hosting plans.

Cloud plans are growing in popularity and do offer some benefits, but you won’t find them here. This point may not mean much to many business owners, but it’s a deal-breaker for some.

When bad things happen, they’ve put together a fail-safe system to protect user files.

Data preservation is top-notch at InMotion. Should their equipment fail or stop due to a power outage, your files go to a battery-powered storage system to rest safely until the problem is solved.

You can try them out for a full 90 days and if they aren’t up to snuff, a full-refund will be given (minus the domain fee).

InMotion’s support is solid. It may not be the level of SiteGround, but it’s close. Responsive and available with every plan.

There are more ways to get a hold of them than most other hosts. The typical methods (phone, chat, email) are all available, but so is Skype. While it’s kinda just another way to call, it’s nice for international customers and jet set entrepreneurs.

Social media support is on Facebook and Twitter.

You won’t be out of your league when you get in touch, either. InMotion promises to be at your level. If you’re a beginner, they can explain things in ways to make you understand. If you know what you’re doing, they’ll be able to understand and correct your problem.

All support channels are 24/7/365 and a stacked resource/troubleshooting page is available too. You’ll find thousands of knowledgeable posts there in a searchable format.

The equipment and speed functions are decent, but not incredible.

InMotion uses solid-state drives (SSD’s) for all servers which is a big speed factor. That said, they don’t offer many of the newest techniques that really turn your site into a rocket.

Things like a content delivery network (CDN), which is a fancy way of making your pages ready to load anywhere in the world, and multiple server locations just aren’t there. If you have a strategy to be ranked in the top of Google and really get high levels of traffic, there are hosts that deliver speed better.

Local businesses who want to get their customers to come to a site won’t have any issues with the speed provided here.

Keeping your site online is one of the most important points for business owners. Your customers need to see what they came for. InMotion knows this and really does a good job with uptime.

To back this up, there is a 99.9% uptime guarantee. If your site is down, they’ll reimburse you for the time.

Unfortunately the host doesn’t publish the uptime stats, so you may have to employ a third party tool to track.
